Aviation & Space Symposium 2022: Highlights and Insights from the Aerospace Industry

The Aviation & Space Symposium 2022 was a two-day event held on June 1st and 2nd at the OLMA Exhibition in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The symposium was organized by the Center for Aviation Competence of the University of St. Gallen and co-organized by four partner clusters from Germany and Austria. The event was held together with the 10th Bodensee Aerospace Meeting (#BAM22), bringing together the largest cross-cluster Aerospace symposium in Europe.

The symposium focused on the sustainable future of civil aviation and opportunities in the New Space Economy. The event featured a large table-top exhibition of companies from the DACH region, as well as top-class speakers from the aerospace industry. In this combination, the Aviation & Space Symposium organized two expert panels for the conference part, which presented and discussed current research and industry trends to the B2B and academic audience and addressed the challenges of the future.

The event was a great opportunity for experts from the aerospace industry, universities, and research institutions to discuss current trends and challenges in the field. It was also a platform for companies to showcase their latest innovations and engage in direct exchange with experts. Vira Drones team, a gold sponsor of the event, was one of the companies that participated in the exhibition and had the opportunity to present its latest drone technology.

The symposium also highlighted the relaunch of global aeronautics under sustainability criteria as well as addressing the requirements of new space programs in a European context. The industrial exhibition grew double compared to previous Bodensee Aerospace Meetings and an Academic Zone was added to host universities and presenting student projects.

In addition to the conference, participants had the opportunity to visit aerospace companies and to exchange ideas with representatives from industry, research, and science at the networking evening. The organizers treated the Symposium and BAM guests to Swiss specialties in the entertainment area of OLMA in St. Gallen.

The Aviation & Space Symposium 2022 was a successful event that provided valuable insights and networking opportunities for participants. It showcased the latest innovations in the aerospace industry and highlighted the challenges and opportunities for a sustainable future. The event is expected to inspire future innovations and collaborations in the field.
